County Party Endorses Candidates, Taxpayer Protection Act

At its meeting today, the Central Committee of the Libertarian Party of Santa Clara County endorsed four candidates planning to run in the 2024 election: Joe Dehn for CD17, Alan Kaiser for SD13, Mark Hinkle for SD15, and Gail Lightfoot for US Senate.

Dehn, Kaiser, and Hinkle are all residents of Santa Clara County. Lightfoot is a resident of San Luis Obispo County. All four have also been endorsed by the Libertarian Party of California.

The party also endorsed the package of tax limitation changes, referred to by its proponents as the "Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act", that will be appearing on the November 2024 ballot. This is consistent with the LP's strong support throughout its history for limiting and cutting taxes.

The party recommended a NO vote on four other propositions scheduled to be on the ballot in 2024: (1) an income tax increase supposedly to support pandemic research and preparedness, (2) an increase in the minimum wage, (3) the creation of a "Fast Food Council", and (4) new restrictions on the location of gas and oil wells. None of these propositions have yet been given the numbers by which they will be labeled on the ballot.
